TUSA Mod Lites Headed to Airborne for Opener

PLATTSBURGH- The TUSA Mod Lites will make their inaugural trip to Airborne Park Speedway, this Saturday night.

The Mod Lites are powered by a motorcycle engine and look just as you would expect. This class is somewhat new and is catching on across the northeast. This is a rather inexpensive and unique class to race in.

The TUSA Mod Lites will be in competition on Friday night at the Mohawk International Raceway in Hogansburg. The back to back events are expected to draw drivers from Quebec, Ontario and across New York State.

Some top runners expected to make the trip include Karine Thibault, Stephane Bernier, Rejean Lemieux, Jeff May and Paul Klager. Several drivers from the Brewerton Speedway and Mohawk are expected to contend in the $500 to win event.

“We are excited to be a part of Airborne’s 2017 season opener,” Paul Klager said. “These motorcycle powered cars make for some great racing.”

There will not be a mid-week practice this week as there are a couple spots on the track we will be fixing. After the track is taken care of, we will begin our regular track prep for Saturday night.

Post time is 7 p.m. for the 64th season opener. Main gates open at 5:30 with pit gates opening at 4:00. Egglefield Ford Modifieds, Fidelis Care Sportsman, Poirier’s True Value Renegades, Busch Beer Mini Mods and Strictly Stocks will also be in attendance.
