Spring Championship Series Announced for Airborne, Devil’s Bowl

Yandow Sales & Service, John Deere partner with two NASCAR tracks for 2015 campaign

PLATTSBURGH, NY – Airborne Park Speedway and Devil’s Bowl Speedway have teamed up with Yandow Sales & Service of North Ferrisburgh, VT and John Deere in an exciting new partnership for the 2015 stock car racing season. The two tracks will provide four divisions of racing in the locally-rebranded “NASCAR Whelen All-American Series presented by Yandow Sales & Service and John Deere” and the season will begin with the new seven-event Spring Championship Series.

A new alternating weekly schedule introduced by the two speedways for the spring season will carry a $5,000 Spring Championship Series point fund provided by Yandow Sales & Service and John Deere. The Spring Championship Series will run each Saturday night from May 2 to June 13, alternating between Airborne Park Speedway in Plattsburgh, NY and Devil’s Bowl Speedway in West Haven, VT.

“Airborne and Devil’s Bowl have gained a lot of new interest on both sides of Lake Champlain, and the spring schedule was designed to give people the opportunity to travel to both tracks on Saturday nights,” promoter Mike Bruno said. “The weekly Friday-Saturday grind of the summer starts once school gets out in mid-June, and we wanted to give the race teams a little extra spending cash before that starts. Yandow Sales & Service and John Deere stepping up to put the Spring Championship Series together will put some money in the racer’s pockets, and it’s an exciting program that will give the fans something extra to cheer for.”

Each track’s events will award separate championship points toward their own title chases, but the Yandow/John Deere Spring Championship Series will simultaneously tally points for all seven races in that time frame to crown overall champions. The Spring Championship Series will award bonus checks to the top-10 point finishers in the Modified division with the champion grabbing $1,000; the top-five Late Model, Renegade, and Mini Stock/Mini Modified drivers will also receive bonuses with $300 going to the champions.

The Spring Championship Series is lined with special events; the open-wheel Modified division runs eight races in the seven-week span including 100-lap events on May 2 (Airborne) and May 9 (Devil’s Bowl), and double features at Airborne on May 30. The eight-cylinder Renegade and four-cylinder Mini Stock/Mini Modified classes each run on all seven nights, with the Renegades taking center stage with 100-lap races on May 23 at Devil’s Bowl and at Airborne in the series finale on June 13. The Late Model division has four races that will count toward the Spring Championship Series, and each team that participates in American-Canadian Tour events at Airborne on May 16 and Devil’s Bowl on June 6 will earn 25 bonus points toward the series.

“The entire Yandow family and our staff are all very excited to be a part of the racing action at both Devil’s Bowl Speedway and Airborne Park Speedway,” said Richard Yandow, owner of Yandow Sales & Service. “We’re honored to be founding sponsors of the Spring Championship Series along with John Deere, and we can’t wait for the green flag to wave.”

The Spring Championship Series opens on Saturday, May 2 at Airborne Park Speedway in the first run of 2015 for the NASCAR Whelen All-American Series presented by Yandow Sales & Service and John Deere.
