Mound City Missouri's Rumble by The Refuge: A Refuge Indeed!
Sellersburg, IN (June 19th, 2024) – The third weekend of June each year finds pulling fans and pullers converging on a special place in Northwest Missouri to seek refuge from the hustle and bustle of work life. Fittingly, it borders another refuge - the Loess Bluffs National Wildlife Refuge where millions of snow geese flock each year as well. The aptly-named Rumble by the Refuge in Mound City, Missouri has grown by leaps and bounds each year with a proactive promotion group serving fans and pullers alike with a heaping helping of hospitality and entertainment.
Led by promoters Chris Waegele and Mitchell Corbin, the event set for this weekend, Friday, June 21st and Saturday, June, 22nd, is a study in making improvements year after year at the Old Rodeo Grounds. It's not only about the fantastic pulling (Highlighted by Pro Pulling League Champions Tour, Silver Series presented by Hart's Diesel, and Champion Seed Western Series contestants) but providing a bit of show before and after the main event. From a pre-show flyover by local crop sprayer pilots to a post-pull concert, the question of "Are we entertained?" is answered with a resounding YES!
At the heart of the entertainment is also a means to give back to the community. Each year the promotion group awards scholarships to local youth in Agriculture to keep young people close to the land for years to come.
