Session One of Hillsboro Charity Pull Delivers Awesome Action
Charlestown, IN (August 13th, 2022) – As a six-time Lucas Oil Pro Pulling League Pull of the Year, the Hillsboro Charity Pull comes with lofty expectations for fans and pullers alike. Like many pulling events, weather can throw a wrench into the process of getting an event completed. Even with the challenge of afternoon rain prior to session one, the high caliber Hillsboro track crew admirably brought the heralded track into competition form with minor delay and it was soon time to go pulling!
After opening ceremonies session one was launched with Unlimited Super Stocks on the west track. The RhinoAg X-Factor sled presided over that track for the evening. Jeff Hirt and the Runnin Bare CaseIH screamed out past 335 feet for the session one win, followed by Josh Blackbourn on the Considered Armed and Dangerous-HD CaseIH. Aaron Hull and the Taking Care of Business Deere would land in the third spot. It is Hirt’s third win of 2022 and catapulted him into the second spot in points behind Blackbourn.
The east track opened with the Light Pro Stock Tractor division with the Protect the Harvest X-Factor sled presiding over the action. After a sled reset based on his initial, unofficial test hook, Jeff Mikloiche and the Demented CaseIH returned at the bottom of the class to take the win by 22 feet over the nearest competitor, Allen Shellum and his Constant Chaos Deere. Luke Ross and his 7310r Deere named Livin on a Prayer finished third in the field of 17. Mark Wiederhold continues to lead the points in this Silver Series class as they hit the home stretch of 2022 competition.
Pro Stock Tractors would be next on the west track with 13 entries. Kevin Masterson would cover all the bases on the pair of Deeres from the Masterson Farms stable, taking first on the River Rat and following that up with a second on the Tinker Toy. John Link and the Revvelation Pro 88-series IH would make an outstanding 2022 Champions Tour debut taking third on the evening. Brandon Simon and his juggernaut of Loaded-themed Deeres stand 1-2 in points with Mickey Shorter and the Buck Eater Deere in third.
Summit Racing Mini Rods brought their high flying antics to the east track with the Nearpass mini sled overseeing the action. Jesslyn Fagundes and the Bank Roller machine was first puller in the class and posted a run of 307.55 for the nineteen other pullers in the class to chase. That run would stand for the win, besting the efforts Dawn Bunnage piloting the Phoenix machine in her first run in Champions Tour action. Bryan McDonald and the Very Lil Sanity machine would rocket into the third spot for the evening. Jordan Nelson continues to lead the points with the Loud and Mini with 2021 champ Grayson Shelton and the Sawed Off machine in second.
Completing the evening on the west track was a big field of Optima Batteries Super Modified Two Wheel Drive Trucks. Jeremy Nelson and his Midnight Motorsports team have found success on the 2022 campaign having three wins already entering Hillsboro and he drove the Midnight Gambler Dodge into the top spot to secure his fourth win of the year. Russ Nichols and the On The Edge Ford posted a second place finish with the P5 Ford entry of Chad Mayhill in third. With the win Nelson now has a 19-point lead on second place Michael White and the Addiction Chevy.
Finishing the competition on the east track was a powerful group of eight Big River Steel Super Modified Tractors. It proved to be a battle of drivers, machines, and their setups with some challenging passes. Shannon Leischner took the helm of the Dirtslinger Too and put it at the top of the class, garnering his first win of 2022 and his third overall career win in this division. Veteran Bret Berg and the Renk Seed Moneymaker was close behind Leischner in second and the 4 Aces turbine-powered entry of Dave Walsh roared to an impressive third place. Ricky Long and the MAVTV entry continue to hold the points lead with Keith Long and the Lucas Oil/Slick Mist-themed machine in second.
Action continues today at Hillsboro at 1pm CDT for session two with the third and final session at 7pm CDT. Catch the action in-person, online at the live results page www.propullingliveresults.com and the final session via livestream at www.floracing.com
