Madden XR Super Series finale at Gonkik Law Speedway
By XR Super Series PR (Superior, WI) -- Chris Madden wrestled the lead from Brandon Overton early, then cruised to a $20,000 XR Super Series feature triumph at the Superior Showcase Tuesday night at Gondik Law Speedway.
Madden held the high line from his outside pole position and would not let Overton clear him as the two battled side-by-side for the first five laps of the 40-lap main event. Madden finally prevailed, clearing Overton, then maintained the top spot for the duration.
The race went caution free, and Madden would utilize the middle line the majority of the way through lapped traffic. Shane Clanton moved past Overton a quarter of the way through the event and stalked Madden, but would only manage to tighten the gap to a handful of car lengths at its closest margin. Madden walked away at the end.
Clanton finished second, Overton third, Jonathan Davenport was fifth and Kyle Strickler rounded out the Top 5.
It’s Madden’s sixth career XR Super Series event in 15 tries this year. Madden previously won at Bristol (twice), Charlotte (twice) and Stuart.
