Clanton pockets $40,000 on Belleville short track

By XR Super Series PR (Belleville, KS) -- Shane Clanton bulldogged his way to an XR Super Series win at the Belleville High Banks on Tuesday night, taking the victory at the quarter-mile bullring for a $40,000 payday.

The “Georgia Bulldog” wrestled the lead away from Jonathan Davenport 10 laps into the 50-lap feature and never looked back, maneuvering through traffic and staving off a late threat from Chris Madden. It wasn’t a cakewalk for Clanton, as Davenport – who has looked unbeatable as of late – battled him side by side for a handful of laps. Davenport got together with lapped-car Joseph Gorby on lap 18, and didn’t quite look the same after.

Madden would sneak past Davenport on Lap 37 for second place and try to hunt down Clanton to no avail.

Davenport finished third just a night after a dominating win on the Belleville half-mile. Chris Ferguson finished fourth, and Gordy Gundaker rounded out the top 5.

This is Clanton’s first XR Super Series in its inaugural season. He joins Madden, Davenport, Ferguson, Dale McDowell, Tim McCreadie and Kyle Larson as XRSS winners.
