Davenport goes wire-to-wire at Belleville

(Belleville, KS) -- Jonathan Davenport capped off a perfect night at the Belleville High Banks with a $20,000 performance on Monday night, taking the XR Super Series feature in dominating fashion.

The driver out of Blairsville, GA, fresh off his Eldora Million victory, flew past the competition, setting Quick Time, winning his heat, and cruising to victory from the pole in the 20-lap main event. Davenport held off a stiff challenge in the waning laps from XRSS points and earnings leader Chris Madden, who came within a car length of Davenport with three laps to go, but never could muster a try at passing Davenport.

Davenport drove away for his second career XR Super Series victory, adding the win to his Florida Dirt Nationals triumph at All-Tech Raceway (Fla.) on April 23. Madden finished second, Kansas native Chase Junghans ran a strong third, Kyle Strickler was fourth and Chris Ferguson finished fifth.

It was announced Tuesday's night racing will be contested on the quarter-mile track following concerns of the heat and wear and tear on equipment. The feature will be 50 laps paying $40,000 to win.
