Ninth-place finish in Bristol Dirt Nationals opener

On Friday afternoon, Earl Pearson Jr. returned to the driver’s seat of the Papich Racing No. 46 Late Model for the XR Super Series lid-lifter at Bristol Motor Speedway (Bristol, Tenn.). Drawing 37 Late Models for the doubleheader, Pearson Jr. followed up the sixth-fastest lap in his group with an eight-lap heat race triumph. For another $50,000-to-win A-Main on Saturday, Earl came in sixth in his heat before placing second in his B-Main. Starting the main event in 20th, Pearson Jr. was an early retiree from the 50-lapper. He was credited with a 24th-place outing.
