Outlaw (July 11) & Utica-Rome (July 18) Next Stops for Short Track Super Series Modifieds

DUNDEE, NY & VERNON, NY – A pair of Empire State ovals are set to welcome the Bob Hilbert Sportswear Short Track Super Series Fueled By Sunoco on back-to-back Thursday nights.

Outlaw Speedway in Dundee, N.Y. (July 11) and Utica-Rome Speedway in Vernon, N.Y. (July 18) are the next hosts of the STSS Modified River Valley Builders North Region as the series hits overdrive in the month of July.

This Thursday night, Tyler Siri’s Finger Lakes four-tenths-mile hosts the ‘Dave Machuga Memorial’ offering the 50-lap STSS Modified winner $7,078.78 to win, $1,000 for 10th place and $500 to take the green flag in fifth round of the North Region title fight.

Cory Costa of Corning, N.Y., is the race’s defending winner after a dramatic last-lap pass one year ago.

After Outlaw, attention turns to Route 5 in Vernon when Utica-Rome hosts an event remembering an icon in Richie Evans. The ‘Richie Evans Remembered 61’ features a 61-lap, $6,100-to-win, $610-to start special as Round No. 6 of the Modified North Region. The STSS Crate 602 Sportsman Madsen Overhead Doors North Region picks up with Round No. 4 paying $2,061 to the winner for 25 laps.

Last year, Matt Sheppard of Savannah, N.Y. (STSS Modified) and Matt Janczuk of Durhamville, N.Y. (STSS Crate 602 Sportsman) topped the ‘Richie Evans Remembered’ event.

Event information for both can be found on the STSS website: https://www.shorttracksuperseries.com/eventinfo/

In the Modified North Region (entering Outlaw), Mat Williamson holds a 13-point lead over Matt Sheppard, Stewart Friesen, Alex Yankowski, Anthony Perrego, Michael Maresca, Marc Johnson, Jack Lehner, Mike Mahaney and Chris Raabe.

Williamson is the Ollie’s Overall Championship leader by 39 markers over Perrego.

The Sportsman North Region standings Payton Talbot leads Tyler Peet, Blaine Klinger, Michael Ballestero and David Hackett into Utica-Rome.
