Cromwell is “Electric” in First Ever USAC MWRA Victory Friday at ECS!
Butler, Missouri: Friday night at Electric City Speedway “The Cowboy” Braydon Cromwell corralled the field in thrilling fashion to pick up his first ever Wholesale Batteries USAC MWRA Victory in non winged sprint car competition!
The Lone Jack, Missouri, gasser would beat a stellar field to the stripe in the 25 lapper besting 2021 MWRA Champ Kory Schudy of Battlefield, Missouri, Wesley Smith of Nixa, Mo., Quinton Benson from Sweet Springs, Mo., and defending MWRA champion Wyatt Burks hailing from Topeka, Kansas, rounding out the top 5.
While early feature leader Jack Wagner also from Lone Jack, Brad Wyatt, Kearney, Missouri, Craig Carroll, Collinsville, Oklahoma, Bryson Smith, Nixa, and Chad Winfrey of Gladstone, Mo. would complete the top 10.
Earlier in the evening the field of 20 non winged sprint cars would take part in three eight lap heat races with Schudy, Wagner, and Benson, taking home the wins in the first ever completed program for the MWRA at Electric City Speedway. Which followed up the first attempt for the series at ECS last July in a program that was cancelled after rain swept thru the track following heat race action.
Side notes: The First MWRA win for Cromwell wouldn’t have taken place without the help of Rick Horn a noted open wheel owner in the area who provided the Cromwell family race team a motor for Friday nights program. While Samuel Wbr Wagner driving the Wagner Boys Racing sprinter would pass 5 cars in the A feature to win the Midwest Wingless Racing Association Hard Charger Award. And Lauri, Missouri, chauffeur Jesse Bebee would take home the Xtreme Color Hard Luck Award after crashing his car at the start of the third heat race. Bebee was okay after the accident, but his number 45 racer suffered damage that would keep him from competing for the rest of the evening.
Next up for the USAC MWRA Sprint Cars will be a trip next Saturday night to the Open Wheel Classic @ I-70 Motorsports Park in Odessa, Missouri, featuring the MWRA vs the POWRi WAR Series.
