Worthington Speedway 2024 Preview
After an action packed and successful 2023 season at the Worthington Speedway, another eventful season is on the horizon for 2024. Doug Tuin will continue to work with the Nobles County Fair Board to bring IMCA racing action to Worthington, Minnesota on Saturday nights.
The Worthington Speedway will continue their 2024 season with 7 nightly classes. These will include the Worthington Bombers, IMCA Sport Compacts, IMCA Hobby Stocks, IMCA Sport Mods , IMCA Stock Cars, IMCA Modifieds, and the new addition of the Worthington Mini Mods that will all compete on a weekly basis. The 2024 schedule boasts 16 nights of racing with two scheduled off nights during the season on July 6th for the Midseason break as well as July 27th for the Salute to Veterans Weekend.
Promoter, Doug Tuin, has been working hard this off season to also have some specials come to the track in 2024. The Tri- State Late models will make two stops during the racing season, as well as the Outlaw Mini Mod Touring Series. These events will be added to our normal Saturday night events .
The Midwest Madness Tour was a terrific event last year, and will be coming back to the Worthington Speedway on Sunday, June 23rd for the start of their five night tour to different tracks in Minnesota, Iowa, and South Dakota. Last year's Midwest Madness tour brought over 140 cars, and we anticipate this year to be no different. We are thrilled to be a stop on this tour.
Another special event that we will be hosting this year is the Dirt Crown Series. This series will roll into town on July 16th. This event will be a memorial for the late Jim Larson. We are honored to be able to host this race, and to honor the memory of the “ Man In Black”, who turned many laps at not only the Worthington Speedway, but also many area tracks. This special event will feature stock cars and sport mods. They will battle it out for $5,000 to win for the Stock Cars and $2,000 to win for the sport mods. It is awesome to be a stop on one of the many stops of this series that spans over four different states.
To end our 2024 season we will be having our annual Turkey Town Throwdown during the King Turkey Day celebration in Worthington. This race will be sponsored by the family of the late Tyler Pospisil . The Tyler Pospisil Memorial race will be during the Turkey Town Throwdown events to honor one of our weekly racers here at the track that we lost last year .
Racing would not be possible at the Worthington Speedway without the ability to use the fairgrounds. This off season has been a busy one, and there has been a lot of work done to prepare for the 2024 season not only on the surface of the race track, but also to other facilities. Fans will be able to notice a difference in seating as the grandstand will be redone and updated. New lights around the racetrack are also an upgrade that will be worked on as well. As always we have had the crew out working on the track surface, and getting it ready for American Bank and Trust Opening night on May 25th .
We look forward to once again bringing you racing action in 2024. We are very thankful for all the support we have gotten to make this racing program a great success. Here's to a great year ahead.
