July 9, 2023 FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

(Cortland, OH)...The Hovis Auto & Truck Supply RUSH Sportsman Modified Series presented by Born2Run Lubricants will head to the huge 5/8-mile Expo Speedway in a Weekly Series special event presented by Flynn's Tire this Thursday night (July 13) to compete in the annual race as part of the 176th annual Trumbull County Fair. Racing begins early at 6 p.m. due to no lights. On Saturday night, the Sportsman Modifieds return to Sharon Speedway part of the Wedge Motorsports "Route 7 Rumble" Series.

After completing two races this past weekend, the RUSH Sportsman Modifieds will have two more shows this week in Northeast Ohio. Last Friday night at Raceway 7, third year racer Doug Rutana captured his first career RUSH Sportsman Modified victory then on Saturday night, Kole Holden made it two in a row at Pittsburgh's PA Motor Speedway.

Thursday's event at Expo will pay $800 to-win presented by Flynn's Tire with Weekly Series and Futures Cup points on the line. Thursday will once again be a Modified doubleheader with the BRP Big-Block Modified Tour also in competition. This will be the eighth year that the RUSH Sportsman Modifieds, which compete weekly at nearby Sharon Speedway, will be on the card during the Trumbull County Fair.

The 2015 event not only marked the first ever race for the RUSH Sportsman Modifieds at Expo, but made history as the first ever Tour event run with New York's Greg Martin earning the top honors. Chelsie Kriegisch then made more history in 2016 by becoming the first female to ever win in the track’s history and the first female in the to win a Touring Series event in the history of Northeast crate racing! Rocky Kugel rebounded from a bad crash to win the 2017 event.

In 2018, the RUSH Sportsman Modifieds competed on both Wednesday and Thursday night during the Fair with Kyle Martell and Brandon Ritchey victorious. The 2019 show went to Rob Kristyak over the Expo record 22-car field. COVID-19 restrictions cancelled the 2020 Trumbull County Fair. In 2021, Eric Gabany made his RUSH season debut and captured the victory. Last year, Kole Holden led the entire way for his first Expo win. Will there be a ninth different winner in as many events on Thursday at Expo!?

"We have to thank the Trumbull County Fairboard for continuing to allow the RUSH Sportsman Modifieds to compete as part of their Fair," stated RUSH Director Vicki Emig. "Expo always presents a unique challenge to our racers and it's pretty cool there's been eight different winners in eight races! The fact that our two top all-time winners in Series history, Chas Wolbert and Garrett Krummert, never won at Expo shows you just how hard it is to win there."

Holden leads the way in competition this year with five victories, which have come in the last eight events, to sit atop the $3,500 to-win Weekly Series Championship over 2020 Futures Cup Champion Ayden Cipriano, who leads the Wedge Motorsports "Route 7 Rumble" Series points. Rookie Jackson Kristyak, who turns 13 later this month, currently leads the Futures Cup standings.

Expo Feature Payoff: 1. $800 2. $500 3. $350 4. $300 5. $250 6. $220 7. $180 8. $175 9. $170 10. $165 11. $160 12. $155 13. $150 14. $145 15. $140 16. $135 17. $130 18-24. $125. Tow $75.

Drivers need to be prepared with their own fuel, tires, etc. ahead of time as there will be no supplier at Expo. Transponders will not be used. Driver radios are always mandatory; channel 454.000 will be utilized. There is no entry fee. Pits open around 3 p.m. Registration will begin by 3:30. A drivers meeting will be around 5:10 p.m. with warm-ups slated for 5:30 followed by racing at 6.

Expo Speedway is a 5/8-mile dirt track located at the Trumbull County Fairgrounds just north of Route 305 on Hoagland-Blackstub Road in Bazetta Township, Cortland, Ohio. Pit access is Gate A right past the church. ATVs and golf carts must be kept in the pits and cannot go outside this area.
