Wehrs Machine Five-Or-More Modified Challenge Debuts at ‘23 Wild West Shootout
Mega Event Set for January 7, 8, 11, 13, 14, & 15, 2023 at Vado Speedway Park
VADO, N.M. (November 3, 2022) — The Wehrs Machine Five-Or-More Modified Challenge is set to debut at the 2023 Rio Grande Waste Services Wild West Shootout presented by O’Reilly Auto Parts at FK Rod Ends Vado Speedway Park.
The program posts a $15,000 bonus for any driver in the Mesilla Valley Transportation / Border Tire Modifieds presented by Rancho Milagro, who can win five or more features during the six-race miniseries, spanning Jan. 7-15, 2023. With the bonus factored into the week, it offers the opportunity for a Modified racer to claim over $25,000 in winnings in 2023 if he or she can win all six races.
“In 2022, for the first time ever we posted a $10,000 bonus for any Modified driver who could win at least four features, and Rodney Sanders went on a tear and won the final four races to get the money. As a result, we couldn’t get an insurance company to give us a policy on four races for 2023, but we were able to obtain a policy for an increased bonus of $15,000 based on five wins. After seeing what Rodney (Sanders) did this year, I could see him or another driver having a chance at getting the bonus in 2023, shared event promoter, Chris Kearns. “A huge thanks goes out to Chad Wehrs with Wehrs Machine. When I presented him the option to sponsor the bonus for 2023, he was all about it.
“Having a storied name like Wehrs Machine added to our marketing partner list adds further integrity to the legacy of the Wild West Shootout. We’re thankful to have Wehrs Machine on board, and we look forward to seeing if a driver can get another big bonus in 2023.
Racing parts innovator, Chad Wehrs with Wehrs Machine echoed Kearns excitement about his company’s involvement with the 2023 Rio Grande Waste Services Wild West Shootout presented by O’Reilly Auto Parts.
"We are excited to be a part of the Wild West Shootout in 2023 and provide an opportunity for a Modified racer to take home a large bonus, Chad Wehrs shared.
Wehrs Machine & Racing Products was officially founded in June 1997 by Chad Wehrs, but its vision was born a decade earlier. The company’s inspiration came from Chad’s love for creating parts out of metal. At the age of 12 he began welding pieces together to make cool parts from his imagination. Turning his ideas into reality paved the way for limitless creations.
The company has grown to be an industry leader for custom parts at a reasonable price. The Wehrs family has been around racing since 1968 and what they’ve learned at the track is reflected in their more than 50 original Wehrs Machine innovations.

The Mesilla Valley Transportation / Border Tire Modifieds presented by Rancho Milagro will contest $2,000-to-win programs on Jan. 7, 8, 14, 15 along with $1,000-to-win events on Jan. 11 and 13.
The announcement of the $15,000 Wehrs Machine Modified Five-Or-More Challenge joins the $2,500 Arizona Differential X-Mod Four-Or-More Challenge, which was announced earlier this week.
Additionally, the 2023 edition of the Penske Racing Shocks $300,000 Paydirt Jackpot was recently announced, which offers a $300,000 bonus for any Super Late Model driver who can win all six nights. The bonus program also includes a $100,000 incentive for five wins and a $25,000 bonus for four miniseries victories.
With the Wild West Shootout offering five features now paying $10,000 to win and the $25,000-to-win Rio Grande Waste Services finale presented by Shaw Trucking, a driver able to pull off the feat of sweeping the miniseries would depart Arizona with over $378,000 in earnings including the Penske Racing Shocks $300,000 Paydirt Jackpot bonus as well as the $3,000 champion’s check.
Reserved seating, six-day tickets recently became available for the motorsport’s extravaganza. They can be purchased online at www.wildwestshootout.net/buy-tickets/ and are $155, which is a $30 savings. With each package comes a complimentary, free one-day pit pass upgrade to be used on the day of the ticketholder’s preference.
The mega miniseries features six days of racing spanning January 7-15, 2023 with Super Late Models, Modifieds, and X-Mods contesting complete programs each day.
Over $320,000 in prize money will be on the line during the 17th Annual Rio Grande Waste Services Wild West Shootout presented by O’Reilly Auto Parts. The event includes six complete programs for three divisions.
Each night finds the Dirt Track Bank Super Late Models presented by Black Diamond Race Cars, Mesilla Valley Transportation/ Border Tire Modifieds, and RHRSwag.com X-Mods presented by Barnett Harley Davidson competing in action.
Additionally, an open practice session is slated for both January 6 and January 10.
