Wild West Shootout
Shocks By Hammer Posts Additional Cash for X-Mod Heat Races
Shocks by Hammer X-Mod heat races offer racers extra cash at Jan. 11-19 Keyser Manufacturing Wild West Shootout
SAN TAN VALLEY, Ariz. (Nov. 15, 2019) — The Shocks by Hammer X-Mod heat races will give drivers in the open-wheel division a shot at extra cash every night of the January 11-19 Keyser Manufacturing Wild West Shootout presented by O’Reilly at FK Rod Ends Arizona Speedway.
A Huron, S.D.-based shock-service business launched in 2011 by veteran Upper Midwest racer Brian Diede, Shocks by Hammer is a first-time sponsor of the mid-winter motorsports extravaganza that features six evenings of action for X-Mods as well as Super Late Models and Modifieds. The Shocks by Hammer X-Mod heat races will offer each winner $30 and second-place finisher $20.

“The X-Mod division has grown to be a loaded field each-and-every year at the Wild West Shootout, said event coordinator Ben Shelton. “Some of these racers travel over 30 hours to be at FK Rod Ends Arizona Speedway, so it’s awesome to have Shocks by Hammer stepping up to sponsor some extra cash for these competitors on a nightly basis.
Shocks by Hammer specializes in custom shock packages for competitors on the Upper Midwest’s WISSOTA circuit with the majority of its work with Bilstein Shocks. The company also does shock work for snowmobiles, among other vehicles, and recently began servicing and repairing Fox Shocks for Ford Raptor trucks.
“I’ve got a lot of customers in the X-Mod and Modified divisions that go down there (to Arizona), said Diede, who has been competing himself on dirt tracks for two decades. “It’s just like a refuge for ‘em. They’d pull ‘em down there by hand if they could just to get out of this weather we deal with up here. There’s guys ice-fishing already up here.
“I just want to give back something to those X-Mod guys. To give guys a few extra bucks for finishing first or second in a heat race … heck, they can go buy some beer or do whatever else they want to do with it.
