Keyser Quarter-Million Challenge returns for 2019 Wild West Shootout at Arizona Speedway
QUEEN CREEK, Ariz. (July 19) — The Keyser Quarter-Million Challenge will return once again for the 2019 Keyser Manufacturing Wild West Shootout presented by O’Reilly Auto Parts at FK Rod Ends Arizona Speedway, giving drivers a chance to leave the mid-winter Super Late Model meet with bonus money bulging from their pockets.
When Super Late Model teams assemble at the third-mile oval outside Phoenix for six nights of racing Jan. 5-13, 2019, a checkered-flag sweep of the miniseries by one driver will for the fourth consecutive year be worth a blockbuster $250,000 bonus. In addition, winning five of six features will earn a racer an extra $100,000; capturing four A-mains offers a $25,000 prize; and topping three headliners will provide a $10,000 check.
“The Keyser Quarter-Million Dollar Challenge has added plenty of excitement to the Wild West Shootout since we started it, said Scott Keyser, who operates Keyser Manufacturing in Coopersville, Mich. “Last year we expanded it even more to offer bonuses for winning three, four or five races and the reaction to that was great. No one has claimed any bonus race yet, so we’re hoping this is the year that someone walks out of Arizona Speedway with some extra money to kick off their season.
Earlier this year Ricky Weiss of Headingley, Manitoba, and Don Shaw of Ham Lake, Minn., won two Wild West Shootout features apiece and had opportunities to pick up bonus money but fell short of becoming the first driver to collect extra cash since the program was instituted in 2016.
The 2019 Keyser Manufacturing Wild West Shootout presented by O’Reilly Auto Parts is run under the co-promotion of Chris Kearns and Kevin Montgomery and will pay out over $200,000 in purses over six nights of Super Late Model, Modified and X-Mod racing. Action begins on Sat., Jan. 5, and continues with events on Jan. 6, 9, 11, 12 and 13.
