Mallett Excited to Make Debut at Longdale Speedway This Weekend

Inside Line Promotions – GREENBRIER, Ark. (May 16, 2023) – Rain stole a pair of ASCS National Tour races in Missouri last weekend from Jordon Mallett, who has now lost 10 planned races due to Mother Nature this season.
“Ten is a lot,” he said. “That is a whole lot. We joke about rain this time of the year, but after four, five or six rainouts, this is getting excessive. We can do without some rainouts.”
The plan for this weekend is an ASCS National Tour doubleheader on Friday and Saturday at Longdale Speedway in Longdale, Okla. It will mark his debut at the track and first trip to ‘The Sooner State’ since last July when he placed fifth during a race at Tulsa Speedway in Tulsa.
“I’ve looked Longdale up on Google satellite and studied it from the aerial, but I haven’t watched any videos,” he said. “I almost prefer going to new places versus a place we’ve gone a bunch of times. It’s easier to focus as weird as that sounds. When you show up your mind is just on experience versus your notebook when you’ve been there 15 times. And then you can get buried because the track doesn’t do what you think.”
At this point Mallett is hopeful just to log laps after wet weather has impeded his racing plan this year. Nine of the 11 scheduled ASCS National Tour races thus far have been rained out. Mallett placed seventh during the season-opening show and 12th during the second event while battling an ill-handling race car.
Both of those races were nearly one month ago and since then he has only been able to get one night of competition in, although it was short-lived because of a steering problem.
“You can always find stuff to do, but after a while you start rubbing paint off stuff,” he said. “We’re needing to go somewhere and race. Hopefully the weather cooperates this weekend.”
