Sams III Soaks Up Experience During Rookie Season on ASCS National Tour Trail

Inside Line Promotions – NORTH PORT, Fla. (Nov. 16, 2020) – Danny Sams III made the most of his first year on the Lucas Oil ASCS National Tour.

The Sams LaMountain Racing driver was a contender for the Rookie of the Year Award throughout the grueling campaign and he ended the season by posting a 10th-place result in the championship standings in arguably the toughest national 360ci winged sprint car series.

“It definitely had its ups and downs and we bit off a lot for a first-year team so to get top 10 in the ASCS National Tour standings is a really cool achievement,” Sams III said.

The team hit its stride in the final stage of the season, becoming a consistent contender at marquee events throughout the Midwest and earning a podium result during the final doubleheader of the year in Florida.

“In the fall we really got our stuff together and started making changes with our team,” he said. “It started coming together.

“The goal was to get a top 10 in the standings. When we made the A Mains we did good. I feel like we should have made more shows and that’s what we left on the table. For a two-person team, with just me and my dad being on the road, to run as good as we did was an achievement. Overall, it was a good experience and we’re happy with how we ended up.

“I want to thank Steve, Karen and the LaMountain Family as well as East Mountain Transport, Inc., for the opportunity. Given the circumstances of our first year on the road with the top series and then facing a pandemic, I’m proud of what we were able to accomplish and how much we learned.”
