Inside Line Promotions – MESQUITE, Texas (Oct. 20, 2020) – Jack Dover was consistent throughout the 47th annual Winter Nationals last weekend at Devil’s Bowl Speedway.

Dover delivered a top-five outing each night during the Lucas Oil ASCS National Tour season finale, giving him 21 top fives in 29 races this year.

The two-day show began on Friday with Dover winning a heat race after lining up on the outside of the front row. That earned a spot into the feature redraw and Dover pulled the No. 2 to garner the front row for the A Main.

“We went out and won our heat race by five seconds so I knew we were pretty good,” he said. “It’s hard to judge because we started out front. We redrew the No. 2 for the feature. With Sam Hafertepe Jr. starting on the front it wasn’t going to be easy. I figured I’d ride in second and catch him in traffic. It never came to that. We had a late restart and Scott Bogucki was able to get by us on the bottom in turns three and four.

“I was very pleased to run third with those guys considering we hardly run with them. I felt like my car needed some adjustments and a gear change. We did that the next night and the car was way better.”

The third-place effort was the best of the season during ASCS National Tour action for Dover. It also marked his 16th podium of the year.

The stout weekend wrapped up on Saturday with Dover maneuvering from fourth to third place in a heat race. That lined him up on the outside of the seventh row for the main event and he charged forward 10 positions to end fourth. It was the second-most positions gained by any driver in the feature.

“They gave us a really good track both nights,” he said. “It was a little too good. There wasn’t much passing and everybody was fast in the heat race. We got by one car and were all over second place, but the track wasn’t wide enough to make a move on them.

“The track widened out for the feature. If you could hit the bottom good it had a really good groove. The top was good as well so there were two lanes of racing. I picked them off one by one. I ran up top and the bottom. We slowly worked our way up there. To get as far forward as we moved without any yellows was impressive. We’re definitely going to take those notes for when we go back there.”
