Inside Line Promotions – COBBLE HILL, B.C., Canada (Nov. 14, 2019) – Robbie Price recently completed his maiden season as a full-time traveling competitor on the Lucas Oil ASCS National Tour.
Price picked up a pair of wins to go along with four top fives and 11 top-10 finishes in a total of 30 ASCS National Tour feature starts. As a result, he finished the season ranked eighth in the championship standings.
“It wasn’t a bad year, but almost every track we went to was new to me,” he said. “We were pretty hit and miss, but we were able to build a nice notebook for 2020 as a result.”
Price’s two triumphs came at Skagit Speedway in Alger, Wash., in June and at Lake Ozark Speedway in Eldon, Mo., in September. The win at Skagit Speedway was exceptionally special as it came during the 48th annual Jim Raper Memorial Dirt Cup and was worth a whopping $15,000.
Along with it being the first series victory of his career, Price also became the first-ever Canadian-born driver to win the crown jewel event and the youngest to win the race at the age of 21-years-old.
“We have a lot of experience at Skagit and we kind of made it a goal to go there and perform well,” he said. “I’ve run that race before and struggled so to go out and learn some things and apply it at a race like that and get a win, it’s definitely a special moment I won’t forget.”
Price also sprinkled in two pavement NSRA Winged Sprint Car starts to go along with several 410ci winged sprint car races throughout the 2019 season. It included an attempt to qualify for the 59th annual NOS Energy Drink Knoxville Nationals presented by Casey’s General Stores at the famed Knoxville Raceway in Knoxville, Iowa.
While his first attempt at running the event ended in the D Main during the Saturday night finale, it was all part of what Price deemed to be a season of continued growth as a driver.
“I’d say this whole year was really a learning experience and track time was important for that,” he said. “I think we have a great program and I think with what we gained this year we can be a lot more successful going forward. It was just a fun year.”
