Inside Line Promotions – FORT WORTH, Texas (Nov. 5, 2019) – Poor track position and a challenging track surface hindered Alex Hill during her final two races of the year with the Lucas Oil ASCS National Tour last Thursday and Friday at the Texas Motor Speedway Dirt Track.

“My crew gave me a good car both nights,” she said. “We haven’t drawn well lately and that continued at Texas. With ASCS you need to pass cars in your heat race when you don’t draw well. Unfortunately, the track was really difficult to pass on both nights.”

Hill started seventh in her heat race on Thursday during the opening round of the Tony Stewart presents the VANKOR Texas Sprint Car Nationals.

“I got into the grease on the start and fell back to eighth,” she said. “Then I was able to pass a couple of cars and finish sixth. Dropping back on the start really hurt us.”

Hill rolled off 10th in her qualifier.

“I had a really good start in the qualifier and moved up several spots,” she said. “But then a car spun in front of me. I had to get on the brakes hard and that pushed me up the track and I almost flipped. I finished the race 10th with a bent axle. My guys replaced the axle before the B Main, but then we had a part failure with the brakes so we couldn’t do much there and finished seventh.”

Friday’s results were similar to Thursday’s for Hill.

“I started fifth in my heat, but spun the tires on the start and ended up finishing sixth,” she said. “I had a good car, but the mistake at the start was on me.”

As the night before, Hill started last in her qualifier.

“I just wasn’t able to do much,” she said. “Once the cars got strung out it was really difficult to pass. I also made some driving errors on things I need to work on.”

Her season ended with an eighth-place finish in a B Main after starting seventh.

“Once again, there was very little passing with everyone running the fast line around the top,” she said.
