Inside Line Promotions – WHEATLAND, Mo. (Sept. 26, 2018) – Scott Bogucki had been struggling somewhat the past few races and he knew something was not right with the setup of his SawBlade.com backed sprint car.

Bogucki talked with his crew and went back over all of his notes and it led to changes that resulted in instant success last weekend at Lucas Oil Speedway, where he capped the 8th annual Jesse Hockett/Daniel McMillin Memorial with a runner-up result on Saturday.

“We finally found some things with our shocks and to be honest it was my fault,” he said. “We talked over what we were doing and were able to figure out what was wrong and the car was a rocket ship.”

The three-day Lucas Oil ASCS National Tour presented by SawBlade.com event began on Thursday when Bogucki won his heat race and qualifier. He rolled off fourth in the feature.

“We were just a ton better all night,” he said. “We finished third in the feature, which put us in a great position for the Saturday finale.”

Bogucki finished fourth in both his heat race and qualifier on Friday and he picked up a B Main win to transfer into the main event.

“We blew up the motor coming to the checkers,” he said. “Thanks to a lot of help from my guys and other crew guys we were able to get the engine changed for the feature, but we didn’t have time to make setup changes. We had to start the A Main so that we were in the top eight and locked into Saturday’s main.”

A 19th-place result placed Bogucki sixth in overall points following the two preliminary nights. He started Saturday’s championship feature from the sixth spot.

“I worked my way up steadily, but by the time I got to second Sam (Hafertepe Jr.) was gone,” he said. “But after how we’ve run the past month and the turn-around this past weekend, I’m very excited for the final four ASCS races.”

Bogucki, who is the leading candidate for Rookie of the Year Award, remains eighth in the ASCS National Tour championship standings. The next races are Oct. 19-20 at Devil’s Bowl Speedway in Mesquite, Texas.

“I’ll race this weekend at Silver Dollar Speedway (in Chico, Calif.) and then head back to Iowa to get everything ready for the final ASCS races,” he said. “The next couple of months will be hectic getting things organized and ready for next year because I lose two months when I head back to Australia.

“I’m really excited to get back to Devil’s Bowl though. We got our only ASCS win there (on June 12) and were really good all night. We didn’t have to change anything and I kind of got a hold on how to run that unique track.”
