Bellm Breaks Out for Big 2017 Season

Lonnie Wheatley, NIXA, Mo. (December 5, 2017) – Nixa, Missouri’s Kyle Bellm and the Resource Asset Management Solutions (RAMS) No. 14k Sprint Car team enjoyed what could be best characterized as a “breakout campaign” during the 2017 Sprint Car racing season.

After scoring his first career ASCS Speedweek win at Amarillo, TX, in June, Bellm was red hot aboard the PPG Automotive Finishes/Colorvision entry over the heat of the summer with a run of top-five after top-five finishes that included another four wins.

“It was the best season that we’ve had so far,” Bellm said of the 2017 effort. “We had some struggles early and then a little bit at the end of the year, but we really had things working well over the middle portion of the year.”

Competing in the early segment of the Lucas Oil ASCS National Tour slate along with selected Regional events, Bellm posted regional runner-ups at Moberly, MO, on April 22 and Humboldt, KS, on May 12 before striking for ASCS National Tour glory aboard the Kannady Racing Engines entry at Amarillo’s Route 66 Motor Speedway on June 10.

“It was good to get that win, it’s what this team was needing,” Bellm commented after the Amarillo score.

It got the team rolling, as soon after, Bellm and the VP Racing Fuels/Schure Built Suspensions team were nearly unstoppable over the hot summer months with four triumphs at Eldon, Missouri’s Lake Ozark Speedway among a spree of ten top-five finishes in eleven events over the two-month span from June 24 to August 26.

In the closing stages of the season, Bellm added another pair of top-five runs aboard the Christian County Collision Repair/Bybee Lawn Care entry that pushed the season total to 17 top-five finishes in 38 total starts after finishing out the season at I-30 Speedway’s Short Track Nationals in October. Bellm narrowly missed the STN championship feature cut aboard the Greenworks Nursery/Landscapes Awarded machine among the field of more than 70 entries after racing into the Friday night preliminary feature.

Bellm and crew now go into the off-season after an impressive season that included five overall wins among 17 top-five runs.

“It was a great season for us and something we certainly couldn’t do without all the support from our marketing partners, RAMS, Christian County Collision, Schure Built Suspensions, Kannady Racing Engines, PPG Automotive Finishes, Colorvision, Schaeffers Racing Oil, Prater Designs, The Engine Heater, Bybee Lawn Care, Greenworks Nursery, and Landscapes Awarded” Bellm says. “Without them and the moral support from my family, fans and crew, we couldn’t do this.”

Currently, the 2018 schedule of events for Bellm are not yet finalized. Kyle's goal would be to drive for or partner with another team to contend for wins and possibly take another shot at the ASCS National tour. If nothing materializes over the winter we can expect a very similar schedule as 2017 in the Bellm Motorsports family owned 14k.

After serving notice this year, Bellm will certainly be one to keep an eye on during the 2018 season.

2017 Quick Stats: 38 races, 5 wins, 17 top-fives, 18 top-tens.

Up Next: 2018 schedule to be determined.
