Bruce Jr. Bound for ASCS National Tour Season Finale at Cocopah

Inside Line Promotions – OWASSO, Okla. (Nov. 6, 2017) – Tony Bruce Jr. will return to Cocopah Speedway this weekend for the first time since 2014.

Bruce Jr. is piloting a sprint car for Mike Hayashi this Thursday through Saturday at the 3/8-mile oval in Somerton, Ariz., which hosts the Lucas Oil ASCS National Tour season finale.

“I’m looking forward to getting back out there,” Bruce Jr. said. “It’s a great facility and great track. We’ve ran fairly decent and have had some success there.”

Bruce Jr. placed fifth in 2014, a career-best third in 2013 and ninth in 2012.

“There’s a fine balance of keeping your car able to rotate, but still have forward drive down the straightaways,” he said. “The turns are fairly tight and the straightaways are long. It’s definitely tricky.”

This weekend will mark the second time Bruce Jr. has driven for Hayashi. The duo competed together last month at Devil’s Bowl Speedway in Mesquite, Texas, where they placed eighth and 15th, respectively.

“We definitely learned some stuff about the car at Devil’s Bowl,” Bruce Jr. said. “Every time you get in a different car you haven’t driven it takes a few nights to work out the kinks. We have a good game plan going into this weekend.”
