Inside Line Promotions – MESQUITE, Texas (Oct. 24, 2017) – Harli White earned her sixth top-10 finish of the season with the Lucas Oil ASCS National Tour last Saturday during the 44th annual Winter Nationals finale at Devil’s Bowl Speedway.
The result was a strong finish to a solid weekend for White, who opened the doubleheader on Friday by advancing from third to second place in a heat race. That locked her into the feature redraw, in which she pulled the highest number – eight – to start the A Main on the outside of the fourth row.
“We went forward in the heat race and that put us in a good position for the A Main,” she said. “We stayed in the top 10 the first half of the race, but toward the second half of the race everyone was running the bottom. I couldn’t get it to work on the bottom and we went backwards.”
White ended with a 13th-place finish.
She returned to the half-mile oval on Saturday for the event finale, which began with White winning a heat race after starting on the pole.
“We regrouped and did what we had to do in the heat by winning,” she said. “By the way the points worked out we started 10th in the A Main. There wasn’t much passing. We gained one spot. Honestly it was one of the weirdest A Mains where I passed a car, but never saw a car try to pass me. Everyone was spread out and racing their own race.”
White spent the main event inside the top 10 before posting a ninth-place result. It was her 13th total top 10 this season.
White is slated to be off the next couple of weeks before wrapping up the season Nov. 9-11 at Cocopah Speedway in Somerton, Ariz., with the Lucas Oil ASCS National Tour. She will enter the season finale ranked ninth in the championship standings.
