26 Promotions – Peoria, AZ – (October 17th, 2017) – Colton Hardy pulled double-duty Saturday night at Canyon Speedway Park with both the ASCS Southwest Series and Power 600 Micro’s in action for Octoberfest.

Hardy’s night kicked off in the Micro, where he finished third from fifth in his heat. Hardy missed the six-car invert by one position, placing him on the inside of the fourth row for the start of the twenty-five lap feature.

Hardy moved into third quickly and then worked his way into second. Hardy took the lead on a restart before the halfway point of the race.

“On the restart, there was some confusion or something with the leader as we went green and I just kind of capitalized and took the lead and never looked back,” explained Hardy. “I felt like we were better than the leader if the confusion didn’t happen, but it would have been fun to race it out and find out who was the better car that night. It feels good to pick up another Micro win since this was my last Micro race until the Tulsa Shootout. Every time this specific car hits the track, it’s always quick, so I’m really looking forward to the Shootout.”

On the Sprint Car side, Hardy entered the race with a fifty-four point lead in the standings over Rick Ziehl. Hardy took advantage of a Friday night practice held by CSP to learn what to do with the car for race day.

Hardy started third in his heat and took the lead in the first couple of laps and checked out from there, earning a spot in the feature redraw where he would draw the eighth starting position.

Hardy moved up a row after the car scheduled to start on the outside of the front row spun before the drop of the green. He raced his way up to second on the first lap and then fell back a spot to third before a caution flew with three laps completed.

“On the restart, I took the lane nobody was running and ended up getting the lead,” he explained. “After we took the lead, the car just kept getting better and better throughout the race. Even with a couple of yellows, the car was great. I’m really happy to pick up another Sprint Car win going into probably our biggest race of the year, Trophy Cup.”

Hardy extends his lead to sixty-two points in the championship standings with five races left and now has nine wins between the Sprint Car and Micro this season.

“I don’t get to run double duty that often with the Sprint Car and Micro so it feels good to pick up both wins on the same night,” he said. “It was a full team effort between the two. It was a busy night and without the crew from both sides helping, I wouldn’t have been able to run both. I just can’t thank everyone enough. We are having a really good year and it seems like we just keep feeding off success from both cars.”

Hardy heads to Tulare, California for the 24th Annual Trophy Cup at Thunderbowl Raceway starting Thursday, October 19th through the 21st.

Colton Hardy would like to thank Diamond Mechanical, M & J Trophies, Mark’s Nuts & Bolts, Elite Technical Coatings, CSI Shocks, F.S.C, NAPA Auto & Truck Parts, Borrello Race Engines, A & C Remodeling, Engler Machine & Tools and Simpson Race Products for their continued support of the Sprint Car and he would like to thank A & C Remodeling, NPS Race Engines, Engler Machine and Tool, CSI Shocks, Schoenfeld Headers, Hyper Racing, Bandit Racing, M & J Trophies and Apparel, Mark’s Nuts and Bolts, Diamond Mechanical and Napa Auto Parts for their continued support of the Micro.
