Inside Line Promotions – QUEEN CREEK, Ariz. (Sept. 20, 2017) – Joshua Shipley drove his way to Victory Lane for the first time this season and for the first time in his career with the ASCS Southwest Region last Saturday at Arizona Speedway.

“It’s been a year since I won a race and it feels freaking awesome,” he said. “We’ve been so close so many times and we finally did it.”

Shipley started off the night on a positive note when he drew the No. 1 pill, putting him on the pole of his heat race. He led every lap and won by a significant amount. The heat race win put him in the feature redraw, in which he again drew the No. 1.

“We started on the pole of the feature and the car was smooth sailing,” he said. “We led all 25 laps uncontested. It was really cool because a lot of the people that support our racing were there to see it.”

Starting from the front row is always a bonus, but Shipley felt like they could have made it to the front even if they would have had to start deeper in the field.

“We led every lap that we were on the track and it just worked out perfect,” he said. “It was great to get the No. 01 car to Victory Lane because I definitely didn’t want to let my car owners down.”

Shipley drives for Alan and Kaylene Verville, who is the only woman to ever win multiple sprint car races in the state of Arizona.

“I really appreciate all they’ve done for me and that they care so much for our sport,” Shipley said. “It felt really great to get them back to Victory Lane and we hope to do it again before the season ends.”

Next up, Shipley will bring out his non-wing sprint car for the first time this season to compete with the NAPA Desert Sprint Car Series at Canyon Speedway Park in Peoria, Ariz., Sept. 29-30.
