Hagar Hungry for Another Hockett/McMillin Memorial Victory

Inside Line Promotions – MARION, Ark. (Sept. 19, 2017) – Derek Hagar is excited for the 7th annual Jesse Hockett/Daniel McMillin Memorial this weekend.

Hagar will tackle the Lucas Oil ASCS National Tour event Thursday through Saturday at Lucas Oil Speedway in Wheatland, Mo., after taking a week off to prepare.

“Everything is freshened up and looked over,” he said. “We took last weekend to regroup for the big week coming up. You definitely have to be on your game. There will be a lot of heavy hitters there. We have to have all of our ducks in a row so we have a shot at bringing home some wins.”

Hagar has won the prestigious event. Additionally, he has earned a top-10 result during the finale each of the last five years.

“That place fits my driving style,” he said. “My crew gives me a good car. Everything seems to work out for us. We’ve had good showings almost every time.”

Hagar placed 10th during the finale in 2012 and 2013 before he was victorious in 2014. He followed that up with a runner-up result in 2015 – when he swept the two nights of non-wing sprint car competition as well – before charging from 18th to fifth last year.

“We know we can do it,” he said. “We’ve raced with these guys and won. We need luck and the draw to play in our favor to get a good starting spot for the feature.”
