Coming Up: Lucas Oil ASCS National Tour Port-a-Cool U.S. Dirt Track Championship

TULSA, Okla. (September 3, 2014) - With a weekend off, teams with the Lucas Oil American Sprint Car Series presented by MAVTV American Real are gearing up for two nights at the Port-a-Cool U.S. Dirt Track Championship on Friday, September 12 and Saturday, September 13.

Following the Jackson Nationals, Brad Loyet holds a 94 point advantage over Jeff Swindell who suffered engine failure under the bonnet of the Mesilla Valley Transportation No. 94. Jason Johnson salvaged a twelfth place finish despite the narrow racing surface to close on Swindell, bringing the fight to a single point for the runner-up spot.

Looking for his first National Tour victory of 2014, Johnson is the two-time and defending champion of the Port-a-Cool U.S. Dirt Track Championship.

A finish of seventh in Minnesota also put Johnny Herrera back in the middle of the action, sitting two markers behind Jason Johnson and only 97 back from Loyet.

Losing an engine on the start of the A-Feature at Jackson, Sam Hafertepe, Jr. is still in the mix, but now has to make up 126 points to contend for the title. Seth Bergman holds sixth with Matt Covington looking to add another win to the season after claiming the 36th annual Jackson Nationals.

Consistent finishes on the part of Tony Bruce, Jr. has brought the Oil Medics No. 18 from tenth to eighth in driver standings with Aaron Reutzel falling to ninth after being unable to attend the Jackson Nationals while waiting on a fresh bullet for the BC Funds No. 87. Blake Hahn currently rounds out the top ten with the Lucas Oil ASCS National Tour.

Bringing along the American Bank of Oklahoma ASCS Sooner Region and Smiley's Racing Products ASCS Lone Star Region, races will be preceded by a practice night on Thursday, September 11 from 6:00 P.M. - 10:00 P.M. (CT).

Pit gates will open at Noon on September 12 and 13. Spectator gates open at 5:00 P.M. on Friday night with Hot Laps at 6:00 P.M. Saturday night will see front gates opening at 6:00 P.M. with Hot Laps at 7:00 P.M.
