Sherman Strikes Back in Canyon Clash!

Cody Morris, Peoria, Arizona (4-28-2012) - Thirty ASCS Canyon competitors checked into Peoria, Arizona’s Canyon Speedway Park for the Second Annual Canyon Clash Saturday night.

Surprise, Arizona’s three time and defending ASCS Canyon Region champion Jeremy Sherman shot forward from his inside fourth row starting position to take his second consecutive Canyon Clash title and series’ best 34th ASCS Canyon Region victory.

Sherman’s 25 lap ASCS Canyon Region victory at CSP delivered his first of the 2012 campaign, and also first piloting Shon Deskins mount.

Seventh row starter Mike Colegrove took runner up honors along with a Hard Charger effort.

Two-time ASCS Canyon Champ Charles Davis Jr. was shut out of ASCS Canyon victory lane for the first time in the 2012 season, but will keep a podium streak alive as the Buckeye, Arizona racer claimed show position honors.

Torrance, California’s Rickie Gaunt advanced one spot to finish fourth, with Phoenix gasser Justin Quinn advancing 12 spots from his 17th place starting spot to complete the top five running order at the finish line.

The Second Annual “Canyon Clash” at Peoria’s Canyon Speedway Park marked the third of 21 scheduled ASCS Canyon Region contests of the 2012 campaign. It was also the second of 12 visit’s the ASCS Canyon competitors will make to Canyon Speedway Park this season.

Mike Bonneau, Charles Davis Jr., Bruce St. James, and Rickie Gaunt took heat race wins over the 30 car field, with Mike Colegrove and RJ Johnson taking top transfers in the evenings twin 12 lap B Features.
