ASCS Patriots Rained Out at Woodhull before Conclusion; Feature to Be Run on July 31
Rich Vleck, WOODHULL, NY (May 22, 2010) - The only thing moving faster than ASCS Patriots at Woodhull on Saturday Night was the rate at which the program was moving along, still it was not enough to get to the features before Mother Nature arrived.
As the green flag dropped on the Four Laps of Fame Dash, a light drizzle that had been around for more than an hour turned in to a heavier rain, which would settle in on the high banks and wipe out racing for the rest of the night.
With the heats completed, the feature will now be made up on July 31 before a full sprint car event which will include a challenge between the Patriots and the Sprint Express Series. This sets up the possibility for a driver to earn more than $4,000 that night and more than $6,500 on the weekend.
Past Patriot Champions Chuck Hebing and George Suprick, the only drivers to win multiple sprint features at Woodhull, showed their expertise in their respective heats, winning in dominating fashion. Hebing laid down a number of quick laps, including a 13.36 second lap, which is believed to be a track record. This could be the third track record in as many events in 2010 for the Patriots.
Hebing will start from the poll in July after pulling the No. 1 ball in the redraw. 2009 Woodhull winner Bobby Breen will start on the outside of the front row. Bryan Howland and Tim Kelly will make up a strong row two.
Fans that were in attendance on Saturday Night are encouraged to hang on to their ticket stubs as a discount for the July 31 event is expected to be offered.
