ASCS Patriots Set for Woodhull Raceway on Saturday
Lonnie Wheatley, TULSA, Okla. (May 17, 2010) – The third round in the chase for the 2010 ASCS Patriots championship takes place this Saturday night atop the high-banked, 1/3-mile Woodhull Raceway dirt oval in Woodhull, NY.
After single stops atop the Woodhull dirt track over each of the past three seasons, Saturday’s card marks the first of two ASCS Patriot events at Woodhull in 2010.
Saturday’s card also marks the first event of the King of the Southern Tier for the ASCS Patriots.
With the opening two events of the season in the books, Canada’s Steve Poirier sits atop the ASCS Patriot point charts after adding a Saturday night Canandaigua win to a pair of previous Patriots scores in Ohskweken’s Canadian Sprint Car Nationals.
Poirier is 26 markers ahead of three-time and defending ASCS Patriot champ Bryan Howland of Auburn, NY, with opening night winner and two-time champ Chuck Hebing of Ontario, NY, another four points back in third. Hebing reached victory lane in the initial pair of ASCS Patriot events at Woodhull in 2007 and 2008.
Rock Stream, New York’s Tim Kelly is tied with Hebing for third in points, with Penn Yan’s Lance Yonge rounding out the current top five in ASCS Patriot points.
The balance of the current top ten in ASCS Patriot points includes Justin Barger (Montrose), Don Adamczyk (Williamsville), Jared Zimbardi (Salamanca), Alain Bergeron (St. Pie, QUE) and Bobby Breen (Savannah, NY). Breen topped last year’s ASCS Patriot outing at Woodhull Raceway.
Saturday night’s ASCS Patriot action at Woodhull Raceway is set to go green at 6:30 p.m.
