Daggett Looks for Another ASCS SOD Sweep of I-96
[i T.J. Buffenbarger, TULSA, Okla. (July 28, 2009)]
Dustin Daggett will attempt to capture his seventh straight feature victory at I-96 Speedway in Engine Pro ASCS Sprints on Dirt presented by ARP competition on Saturday.
The amazing streak dates back to Saturday June 28th, 2008 and led to Daggett sweeping all of the feature events last season at I-96. Daggett would duplicate this feat for the second year in a row with a feature victory on Saturday. Daggett how has 10 career SOD victories at I-96.
One of the drivers looking to put an end to the streak is defending ASCS SOD champion, current point leader, and former I-96 track champion Brett Mann. Mann recently ran second to Daggett at the most recent event at the Crystal Motor Speedway.
Gregg Dalman is still within striking distance of Mann for the season point championship after a season saving run from near the back of the field for a top five finish at Crystal one night after a DNF from a flat tire at the Ionia fairgrounds, trailing Mann by 22 points.
Robert Huisken and Ryan Grubaugh, both strong performers this season at I-96, look to climb in the point standings at I-96.
In the Engler Machine and Tool Half-Mile Master series Daggett holds a 24 point advantage over Ionia Fairgrounds winner Tim Norman. The half mile master series holds it’s next to last event of the 2009 season Saturday at I-96 before the finale at Hartford Speedway in September.
The Engine Pro ASCS Sprints on Dirt presented by ARP is in its 30th season of competition. Twenty-two point paying races are on the calendar with three special non-point races making up the 25 event schedule contested throughout Michigan, Ohio, and into Canada.
