Patrick Emerling of Orchard Park, N.Y., who has become a NASCAR Xfinity competitor and is coming off of a victory at Lancaster (N.Y.) Motorplex this past Saturday.

“We are looking forward to Chemung,” stated Emerling. “It’s a busy weekend for us, but racing the Modified is always great and with our focus around Watkins Glen this weekend, the Chemung race becomes even bigger because people get to see what we do and how we became the racers we are. We’re definitely looking forward to it.”

The Modified Series will compete in the Rod Spalding Classic honor of the late and great driver, whose injuries spurred the development of the Spalding Foundation for Injured Drivers, headed by Betty Sherwood.

Defending Series champion, Austin Beers of Northampton, Pa., is looking forward to the race.

“Chemung is a technical track and last year during this race, we got to second,” stated Beers. “With a good draw, a little bit of luck I know we can be there to challenge for the win. I’m really looking forward to it and hopefully we can get to victory lane.”

The Race of Champions FOAR Score Four Cylinder Dash Series will continue their championship battle at Chemung, as the sensational young driver Andrew Lewis, Jr., from Ontario, N.Y., continues to battle Bob Palmer of Buffalo, N.Y. Lewis is coming off of consecutive victories heading into the Chemung race.

The Race of Champions Late Model Series and WNY TQ Midgets will join the racing program for the event. There will be 20 Tower Seats available in the upper Tower for $50 per seat, each seat will include a pit pass and a seat in the air conditioned tower. Camping will be open after 4:00pm on Thursday, camping will be dry.

The Spalding Foundation for Injured Drivers will also be recognized as part of the tradition of this night.
