RACE OF CHAMPIONS KIDS CLUB “KIDS ROC” TO BE INTRODUCED AT LAKE ERIE SPEEDWAY ON SATURDAY, AUGUST 15 AS PART OF 31ST ANNUAL TRIBUTE TO TOMMY DRUAR

The Race of Champions Modified Series will introduce the “Kids RoC” program at Lake Erie Speedway in North East, Pennsylvania on Saturday August 15 as part of the 31st Annual Tribute to Tommy Druar and Tony Jankowiak for children 13 years of age and under.

The conceptual club has been a topic on the discussion table of the Race of Champions Series management, however with the pandemic and skewed schedule, it has been challenging to put all of the pieces together to make the “Kids RoC” program happen.

The first 40 children that attend the event on Saturday, August 15 and walk up to the Race of Champions “Kids RoC” table will receive a mask that they can design on, with their own design in mind. There will be 8” x 10” Modified, Late Model and Street Stock coloring pages for Kid’s to color. There will be a best coloring contest, voted on by Ms. VP Racing Fuels, Mariah Reilly and voice of the Race of Champions and WGR550 host and personality, Dave Buchanan. The grand prize winner will receive a $25 Target gift card and a ride in the pace truck during a race that evening.

The first 50 who sign up for the activity on www.rocmodifiedseries.com will also receive a free t-shirt with a Kids only logo designed by ZASDesigns on a shirt printed by SS Designs & Boutique in Warren, Pa., (symplysmaroffdesignsboutique@gmail.com – 716.378-1973). To receive the free t-shirt, children must have their parents sign up at; https://www.myracepass.com/series/1810/registrations/2585 and then provide valid identification to receive their “Kids RoC” t-shirt at the speedway on August 15.

The project has been spearheaded by longtime racing enthusiast, Tracy Thompson-Reilly. “It has been a challenging time for all of us and sometimes the kids need something to look forward to and we thought this was a great opportunity to include them in what is always a great night of racing. We are looking forward to seeing all of their smiling faces on August 15.”

Advance tickets and camping spaces are on sale and moving for the 31st Annual Tribute to Tommy Druar / Tony Jankowiak 110 at Lake Erie Speedway in North East, Pa., on Saturday, August 15, 2020. The Race of Champions Super Stock Series, Race of Champions Street Stock Series, Race of Champions Four Cylinder Dash Series will race in 37-lap features. The NYPA TQ Midgets have been added to the slate for a 25-lap feature.

Masks or facial coverings will be required (when you are within 6 feet of anyone) and social distancing will be practiced due to state and county established restrictions due to COVID-19 as Erie County Pennsylvania remains in the “green” phase of the state’s reopening plan.

Phased reopening in all states varies based on the guidelines set forth by local, regional and state authorities. Current regulations and restrictions (no live audiences/fans) are permitted in New York State and it is not financially feasible for many speedways and series, including the Race of Champions to conduct racing events at various speedways.

All Race of Champions events that are run will follow all guidelines as set forth by any authority (local, regional, state or federal) including the CDC.

The Race of Champions will continue to utilize their contactless points of purchase, membership and event registration which was introduced at the June 26 and 27 events at Lake Erie Speedway.
