MATT HIRSCHMAN CONTINUES HIS DOMINANCE OF LAKE ERIE SPEEDWAY WITH “BASH BY THE LAKE” WIN THIS PAST SATURDAY NIGHT

Matt Hirschman of Northampton, Pennsylvania, continued his dominance at Lake Erie Speedway this past Saturday night as he scored the opening night Series victory in the “Bash by the Lake” 75 for the Race of Champions Asphalt Modified Series. Hirschman has won the last six races at the North East, Pa., speed plant, dating back to the surprise victory by Will Thomas of Sharpsville, Pa., in 2016. It was Hirschman’s 48th career Race of Champions series victory.

“It was a big night for us,” stated Hirschman. “Things have obviously been different this year and we are happy to come out and do our things. I love Lake Erie, it has been a great race track for me. I’m very thankful the show worked out. The weather didn’t look so good this week. We had a great car, a good draw and things just went our way. I hope the next race comes sooner rather than later, but whenever it is, we will be ready.”

Hirschman topped Andy Jankowiak of Tonawanda, N.Y., finished second after a late race charge at Hirschman. Patrick Emerling of Orchard Park, N.Y., the defending series champion finished third. Mike Leaty of Williamson, N.Y., finished fourth with Timmy Catalano of Ontario, N.Y., rounding out the top-five.

Bobby Holmes of Lockport, N.Y., won the T.Q. Midget Series race over Andy Nye of Lancaster, N.Y., and Kyle Hutchinson of East Aurora, N.Y. Holmes, Nye and Hutchinson staged an epic battle with several lead changes throughout the race.

Leaty finished second with Jankowiak third. Daryl Lewis, Jr., of Ontario, ,N.Y. finished fourth and Jake Wylie of Derby, N.Y., rounded out the top-five.

Tommy Krawczyk of West Seneca, N.Y., survived several restarts to win the Super Stock Series event. Krawczyk out ran Tommy Barron from Ontario, N.Y., who is the defending series champion. TJ Cochrane of Cheektowaga, N.Y., finished third. Nik Welshans of West Seneca, N.Y., finished fourth with Trevor Catalano of Ontario, N.Y., finishing fifth.

Bryce Bailey, who is just 15-years old from Waverly, N.Y., scored his first feature victory on Friday night in his first start with the Four Cylinder Dash Series. Bailey topped DJ Shaw of Waverly, N.Y., who finished second and Erik Johnson of Elyria, Ohio, who came home third. Jason Anasiewicz of Alden, N.Y., finished fourth and Charles Palmer of Cheektowaga, N.Y., finished fifth.

D.J. Shaw moved up one position on Saturday evening and captured his first Four Cylinder Dash Series victory. Palmer finished second with Bryar Dils of Derby, N.Y., finishing third. Anasiewicz finished fourth with Josh Schosek of Hamburg, N.Y., finishing fifth.
