ELDON KING RUNS WIRE-TO-WIRE TO CAPTURE THE RACE OF CHAMPIONS LATE MODEL SERIES “BUD 100” AT THE TRACK @ HILLSIDE BUFFALO

The Race of Champions Late Model Series returned to the Track @ Hillside Buffalo for the third and final time during the 2018 season for the running of the “Bud 100” this past Friday. The “Bud 100” has been one of the most prestigious races for Late Models in the Western New York and Niagara regions throughout racing history.

Eldon King, III of Delevan, N.Y., etched his name in the history books recording his third victory of the 2018 season. King led every lap enroute to his victory.

“We had a good night,” stated King from victory lane. “I have to thank everyone that makes this possible. They work hard to get us here and it showed tonight. We had a good car and it certainly wasn’t easy. We just had a great car from the drop of the green and we were able to show it.”

King, who redrew the pole, was chased early on by Sam Fullone of North Collins, N.Y., who posted the fastest time during qualifying but was eliminated from contention with a grinding crash off of turn four on lap 12 when a suspension piece apparently broke on Fullone’s car.

Bob Weber of Clarence, N.Y., drove from 6th starting position to finish 2nd. Terry Weldy of Clarence,, N.Y., finished 3rd.

Dave Russell of Clarence, N.Y., came home 4th. Dave Heitzhaus of Strykersville, N.Y., rounded out the top-five.

Fullone and King won the qualifying races, while Fullone posted the fastest time in green-white-checker qualifying and Ron Richter of Akron, N.Y., was the races hard charger.
