Midwest Legends Dirt Series Set to See Green Flag at Angell Park

Sun Prairie, WI (May 15th, 2024) - For the first time in the series history, the Midwest Legends Dirt Series Presented by Legends.Direct will see the green flag waved this upcoming weekend at Angell Park Speedway in Sun Prairie, Wisconsin. The series will kick off its historic first season at one of the most historic tracks in the Midwest. An entry list of over 25 cars headlines the event and with many more expected, a busy night for the drivers awaits.

After a long winter of prep, the vision of all the board members will finally come true as cars will hit the track for the first time. Countless days and nights have gone into making the premier Midwest legends racing series in the region, and one of the best series in the nation. “A lot has gone into this idea; I think I speak for everyone when I say we are ready to get going.” said MLDS President Mike Schmuhl.

After the first two races of the season were canceled, the first real race weekend will be important to any driver who plans on running, as a strong start to the season will bring in a heap of points to start the year off well. The hot driver to chase currently is Jackson Lewis, who, after teaming up with the Legends.Direct team, comes into the race with six wins under his belt already in 2024. Some drivers to keep your eyes out for include Adam Zellmer, Michael Weber, and Hayden Schmuhl. All three drivers picked up feature wins last season at the track during the weekly racing program and all have major pace when it comes to wheeling a legend. Another driver to watch is the #44J of Jordan Miklas. Miklas comes into the season with a new team, Bellboy Motorsports, which he has already found speed with, picking up a win at BAPS Motor Speedway’s season opener midway through March. Lilly Fassbender enters her sophomore season behind the wheel of a legend with high hopes. The 2023 Beaver Dam Raceway Rookie of the Year had an up and down first year, ending the year with some strong finishes and speed. Other drivers expected include Tim Franz, Cal and Mike Swenson, Brady Ascherien, Griffin McGrath, and more. The full list of expected entries can be found at the bottom of the article.

The pits are expected to open at 1:30pm, with the grandstands opening at 4:00pm. Racing is scheduled to start at 6:00pm. The event will be broadcasted live on FloRacing, with lineups and live timing being available through the MyRacePass app, as well as live updates throughout the night on the series Facebook page.
