Shannon Takes Over UCRA Point Lead

Cedartown, GA (6/13/23) --- Matt Shannon (#15) of Delano Tennessee jumped into the United Championship Racing Alliance - UCRA points lead after Saturday's 40 lap feature at Tazewell Speedway. The Red Line Synthetic Oil sponsored series will pay $7500 to its champion at the end of the 2023 season, as long as all criteria are met per ucraracing.com's website.

Shannon missed the first race of the season in March at Fort Payne Motor Speedway, before collecting his first win at Tazewell a week later. On a roll, Shannon debuted his MSR, "SyMy Capital LLC, ASM Home & Commercial Service, Interstate Welding & Steel Supply, Mike Fauser Plumbing, Team SRI Performance, Action Suspension, Young Blood Graphix” sponsored machine at Fort Payne Motor Speedway picking up the largest paying race in UCRA history. His only non-Top 5 finish this year in UCRA's competition was Saturday night, finishing ninth. Early season points leader (from round 1-4) Jessie Hughes dropped from the points lead by one point to Shannon, exiting Tazewell with a 13th place finish.

Kasey Hall of Geraldine, AL is third in points, and is being chased by two-time and current reigning and defending UCRA champion Kenny Kizzar of Sale Creek, TN. Bradley Lewelling of Knoxville is a few points from passing the fifth place points racer Marty Lunsford, who's not following the series. Lewelling rallied to a fourth place finished Saturday night at Tazewell.

Full points may be seen online at ucraracing.com and on their Facebook social media page. The next event for the UCRA, 604/Crate Late Model series is this Saturday, June 17th at Fort Payne Motor Speedway, in northeast Alabama.
