ENID, Okla. (August 3, 2024) - Jon Herring, Jr. returned to the APEX Healthcare Partners Sooner Late Model Series winners circle with a strong run Saturday at Enid Speedway.

Herring, who picked up his first Sooner career victory at Beaver County Raceway on May 11, took the early lead and led all 25 laps around the high-banked 3/8’s mile oval. Kip Hughes tried to keep pace with Herring but could not reel him in and finished 1.988 seconds behind in second. Eli Ross chased Hughes from his third place position and finished ahead of Damian Patocka who was in fourth. Points leader Zach Nickell moved into fifth on lap 10.

The APEX Healthcare Partners Sooner Late Models are back in action next Saturday at Oklahoma Sports Park in Ada.

Sooner Late Model Series
The Sooner Late Model Series was formed in 2016 by Enid Speedway co-promoter Mark Brill. Brill felt there was not many opportunities for late model competitors to race in Oklahoma and the Sooner Late Model Series was formed. Now the series has grown beyond the borders of Oklahoma with events held in the neighboring states of Kansas, Texas and Arkansas.
