Hughes wins Sooner Late Model finale at Enid Speedway

(Design One Racewear photo) John Rittenoure - ENID, Okla. (October 14, 2023) - Kip Hughes closed out the 2023 Complete Well Testing Sooner Late Model Series season in convincing fashion racing to victory in the 25-lap main event Saturday at Enid Speedway.

After taking the lead away from Brett Hansen on lap 5, Hughes raced unchallenged on the way to a series leading 36th career victory.

A final lap mishap resulted in misfortune for Brett Hansen and Joseph Gorby who were running second and third respectively. The two tangled in turns 3-4 as Hughes, who had a large lead, took the checkered. The crash allowed Jason Redman to finish second. Troy Bynum was third, Richard Shepler fourth while Hansen and Gorby finished fifth and sixth.

The 2023 awards banquet will be held November 4 at the Grand Casino Hotel and Resort in Shawnee. A record points fund will be handed out thanks to Complete Well Testing and Hayden Ross Motorsports Foundation.

Based in Oklahoma, Complete Well Testing is a family owned and operated company specializing in hydrostatic tubing testing and EMI tubing scanning.

Sooner Late Model Series
The Sooner Late Model Series was formed in 2016 by Enid Speedway co-promoter Mark Brill. Brill felt there was not many opportunities for late model competitors to race in Oklahoma and the Sooner Late Model Series was formed. Now the series has grown beyond the borders of Oklahoma with events held in the neighboring states of Kansas, Texas and Arkansas.
