Hansen picks up 5th Sooner victory Friday at Tulsa Speedway

(Sara Foster photo) John Rittenoure - TULSA, Okla. (August 26, 2022) - Brett Hansen took advantage of numerous restarts to take over the lead and win Friday’s yellow flag shortened Complete Well Testing Sooner Late Model Series feature at Tulsa Speedway.

It was the fifth win of the season for Hansen who is in his rookie season with the Sooner Series.

Hayden Ross appeared to be on the verge of sweeping the night after a convincing victory in the Design One Racewear second heat.

Ross jumped out to the early feature lead and survived several yellow flags and led the first nine laps. However, after a lap 10 restart Hansen was able to take the lead away. Ross challenged Hansen on a restart with a couple of laps remaining, but Hansen held his ground for the win. On the final lap Eddie Martin passed Ross for second for his best finish of the season. Ross crossed the line in third ahead of Damian Patocka and Steven Hawkins.

Hansen won the O’Reilly Auto Parts third heat race and Kip Hughes opened the night with a victory in the Matt’s ATV first heat.

About Sooner Late Model Series
The Sooner Late Model Series was formed in 2016 by Enid Speedway co-promoter Mark Brill. Brill felt there was not many opportunities for late model competitors to race in Oklahoma and the Sooner Late Model Series was formed. Now the series has grown beyond the borders of Oklahoma with events held in the neighboring states of Kansas, Texas and Arkansas as well.
