Ken Schrader to Compete at Volunteer Speedway’s 15th Annual Scorcher on Wednesday, September 14

SOMERSET, KENTUCKY (September 1, 2022)- The 15th Annual Scorcher will take place at Volunteer Speedway on Wednesday September 14 as part of the NASCAR weekend of racing at Bristol Motor Speedway in Bristol, TN.

The Valvoline Iron-Man Late Model Southern Series will race for $12,000 to win, along with the Brucebilt Performance Parts Iron-Man Open Wheel Modified Series racing for $1,500 to win, with the track’s Sportsman Late Model division racing for $750 to win to complete the racing card.

Veteran racer and former NASCAR competitor Ken Schrader will be in attendance at Volunteer Speedway on Wednesday September 14 and will be racing with the Brucebilt Performance Parts Iron-Man Open Wheel Modified Southern Series that evening as well. The likable Schrader raced in the NASCAR Cup Series from 1984 through 2013, making 763 starts and collecting four career series wins. Schrader has also competed in the Xfinity Series and Camping World Truck Series of NASCAR, along with having competed in ARCA events as well. Schrader has raced dirt over the course of much of his storied career and still competes in the Open Wheel Modified at various events around the country.
