Valvoline Iron-Man Late Model Series 2nd Annual Johnny Mulligan Classic $10,000 to win at Ponderosa Speedway July 8
SOMERSET, KENTUCKY (July 6, 2022) – The Valvoline Iron-Man Late Model Northern and Southern Series will be in action at Ponderosa Speedway in Junction City, KY on Friday July 8 for the 2nd Annual Johnny Mulligan Classic paying $10,000 to win and $500 to start. The Brucebilt Performance Parts Iron-Man Open Wheel Modified Northern Series will also be in action racing for $1,200 to win and $125 to start.
The Valvoline Iron-Man Late Model Northern and Southern Series will be at Ponderosa Speedway on Friday July 8 for the 2nd Annual Johnny Mulligan Classic and will be featured in a full program of Practice, E-Z-GO Time Trials, Sunoco Race Fuels Heats, Impact Race Gear B-Mains, and the 50-lap, $10,000 to win/$500 to start 2nd Annual Johnny Mulligan Classic. The Brucebilt Performance Parts Iron-Man Open Wheel Modified Northern Series will also be featured in a full program of Practice, E-Z-GO Time Trials, Sunoco Race Fuels Heats, Impact Race Gear B-Mains, and a 20 lap, $1,200 to win/$125 to start feature event. Other divisions in action at Ponderosa Speedway on Friday July 8 will be the track’s Crate Late Models ($1,200 to win), Super Stocks ($800 to win), and Hobby Stocks ($400 to win).
For the Super Late Model portion of the 2nd Annual Johnny Mulligan Classic, the Super Late Model top qualifier will receive $500 from Set-N-Stone and each Super Late Model heat race winner will receive $400. Other presenting sponsors of the event include Wildcat Moving, Bluegrass Radiator, Primal Divide, Heroes Outdoor Therapy, and Dial Painting.
Activities at Ponderosa Speedway for the 2nd Annual Johnny Mulligan Classic on Friday July 8 will see the pit area and general admission area open at 3:00 p.m. The drivers meeting will be at 7:00 p.m., with practice laps and time trials beginning at 7:20 p.m. Ticket prices at Ponderosa Speedway for the 2nd Annual Johnny Mulligan Classic on Friday July 3 in the general admission area will be $30 for adults, while a pit pass will be $45 for adults.
The Valvoline Iron-Man Late Model Northern and Southern Series will sanction the Super Late Model portion of the event and the tire rule will be as follows: Hoosier 1350, 1600, LM40 (Crate 21 and 55 also are fine) or American Racer 48 and 56 (if the series needs to do a tire rule limiting the number of tires per night it will, but as of now the series will not be limiting the number of tires for either series; NO 29.0 size tires on the left rear; the droop rule will be in effect, along with the new standardized 2022 body rules). The entry fee will be $100 and transponders for timing/scoring will be available for rent at the track. Any driver not making the 22-car starting field at each event will receive $75 tow money.
The Brucebilt Performance Parts Iron-Man Open Wheel Modified (UMP) Northern Series will sanction the Open Wheel Modified portion of the program and the tire rule will be as follows: Hoosier M30s, M60 (right-rear option only) (grooving and siping of tires are allowed per UMP rulebook; UMP 2022 body rules apply; no limit of tires used per night). American Racer equivalent tires allowed. Drivers running for UMP points must run UMP tires. The entry fee will be $20 and transponders for timing/scoring purposes will be available for rent at the track. Any driver not making the 22-car starting field at each event will receive $30 tow money.
