Eli Beets Bags Valvoline Iron-Man Late Model Series Summer Sizzler Victory at Ponderosa Speedway

JUNCTION CITY, KENTUCKY (June 3, 2022)– The Valvoline Iron-Man Late Model Northern and Southern Series would make its second trip of the 2022 racing season to Ponderosa Speedway in Junction City, KY on Friday evening for the track’s Summer Sizzler presented by Wildcast RV and Marine and Eli Beets of Knoxville, TN would lead all forty laps on his way to a $7,500 payday.

The win by Beets would be his third career Valvoline Iron-Man Late Model Series victory and would be his third win of the season and would come aboard a Capital Race Car powered by a Clements Race Engine with sponsorship from TMC Transportation and C&C Specialized Trucking.

The initial start would see a tangle in turn one involving Justin Rattliff and Victor Lee, with Rattliff’s machine too damaged to continue. Once the green flag waved again, front row starters Zack Dohm and Eli Beets would battle into turn one, with Dohm having the advantage until Beets would fire a slidejob pass in turn three on Dohm to take the top position, trailed by Dohm, Devin Gilpin, Michael Chilton, and Cody Overton. Beets would quickly pull away from the field, while the top five would remain the same, with Beets starting to lap slower traffic on lap nineteen. Gilpin would begin to challenge Dohm for the runner-up slot as this point, with the pair going side by side on lap twenty-two, with Dohm eventually taking the top spot. Ninth place starting Dakotah Knuckles would catch Cody Overton and make his way into the fifth position on lap twenty-four, while Beets would stretch his lead to over three seconds over Dohm by lap thirty. Knuckles would chase down Chilton and the pair would battle for the fourth position, with Knuckles finally gaining the spot on lap thirty-three. Beets would see Dohm close a bit in the waning laps of the contest, however, Beets would see the checkered flag first, with Dohm finishing second, while Gilpin would complete the podium finishers in third. Knuckles and Chilton would complete the top five. The remainder of the top ten finishers would be Overton, thirteenth place starter Stacy Boles, Kirk Phillips, Cory Hedgecock, and Chris Combs.
