Devin Moran Dominates Valvoline Iron-Man Late Model Northern Series Dan Reno/Jackie Boggs Memorial at Atomic Speedway

WAVERLY, OHIO (May 8, 2021)– The Valvoline Iron-Man Late Model Northern Series would conclude the tour’s weekend in the Buckeye State at Atomic Speedway in Waverly, OH with the Dan Reno/Jackie Boggs Memorial and Devin Moran of Dresden, OH would dominate the late stages of the event to claim the $13,004 payday.

The victory by Moran was his first career Valvoline Iron-Man Late Model Northern Series and would see the 26-year old driver take the win in a Longhorn Chassis powered by a Clements Race Engine that receives sponsorship from Tye Twarog Performance Parts, C and W Trucking, Big D’s Pizza, Tommy Pope Construction, M and M Painting and Construction, Accu-Force Dynos and Testers, Eddie’s Auto, Muskingham County Speedway, and Bilstein.

Devin Moran would take the lead at the start of the main event, with Jacob Hawkins, Josh Rice, Andy Bond, and Darrell Lanigan giving chase. Jared Hawkins would take fourth from Bond on lap three and Tyler Erb would make his way into the top five on lap five. Moran was set to start working lapped on lap seven when the caution would appear when Kirk Phillips would slip over the banking in turn two. The restart would also see the caution wave as the field came back to the green flag when Bond and Dave Hornikel would tangle in turn four. The next restart would also not see a full lap scored as Michael Chilton, Kevin Wagner, and Dustin Nobbe tangle in turn three. The restart would go green this time with Moran still out front, followed by Jacob Hawkins, Rice, Jared Hawkins, and Erb. However, the caution would wave again on lap eight as Freddie Carpenter slowed on the backchute. This restart would see Moran remain out front, with Rice taking second from Jacob Hawkins and Erb taking fourth from Jared Hawkins. Moran would hold a comfortable lead until he started working slower traffic on lap fourteen. Rice would begin to close in on Moran when the final caution of the race waved on lap seventeen for Doug Drown slowed on the backchute. Moran and Rice would pull away from the field on the restart and would distance themselves from the field and by lap twenty-eight, the pair started working slower traffic. Rice would close right up on Moran and would slide past Moran on lap thirty-one in turn two, but Moran would retake the lead by the time the front duo entered turn three. Rice would attempt a slidejob in turn three on lap thirty-two and would clear Moran, but would make contact with the outside retaining wall and Rice would slow and pull to the infield and be done for the night. Moran would continue to pull away and would lap up to the fifth-place car by lap forty-one. Erb would begin to challenge Jacob Hawkins for the second spot on lap forty-five and the field saw the white flag, Erb would slide up in front of Jacob Hawkins to take second momentarily only to jump the cushion over slip over the turn two banking. Moran would see the checkered flag first, with Jacob Hawkins taking second, with Jared Hawkins finishing third. Erb would finish fourth, while Rod Conley would complete the top five. The remainder of the top ten finishers would be Matt Irey, Todd Brennan, Chris Lockhart, Tristan Chamberlain, and Darrell Lanigan.
