He received $4,053 for his winning performance.

“The racetrack was in great shape,” McDowell said in Volunteer Speedway Victory Lane. “With them getting some rain overnight, we didn’t know how the surface would be today. Hats off to the entire crew here at Volunteer Speedway, all of the fans that came back on a Sunday, and everyone associated with the Southern Nationals Series. It’s a fun deal to run and while we came up a little short for the Championship, we had a fun few weeks out on tour with these guys!”

Kicking off the final week with the Schaeffer’s Southern Nationals, Shane McDowell Racing and Dale McDowell invaded Tri-County Racetrack (Brasstown, N.C.) last Tuesday afternoon. With preliminary events lining him up second for the $4,053-to-win feature, Dale led the first five circuits but got caught in a tangle with a lapped-car while trying to navigate through traffic that dropped him back to sixth when the checkered flag flew.

On Thursday afternoon at Boyd’s Speedway (Ringgold, Ga.) for the Scenic City Classic, McDowell locked his spot into the feature with the fastest time in his group. With $4,053 on the line, Dale dropped one spot in the 40-lap affair to register a third-place finish. He followed Sam Seawright and Donald McIntosh to the checkers with Jadon Frame and Cody Overton completing the Top-5 finishers.

The following night at 411 Motor Speedway (Seymour, Tenn.), Dale posted a third-place finish in his heat, which positioned him 11th on the starting grid for the $10,053-to-win A-Main. Coming one spot shy of a Top-5 finish, McDowell passed five cars in the 53-lapper to finish sixth.

For the Ray Varner Ford 53 on Saturday at Tazewell Speedway (Tazewell, Tenn.), McDowell followed up the second fastest time in his group with a runner-up finish in his heat. Clawing forward one spot in the feature, Dale posted a second-place finish, which came behind Michael Chilton. Zack Mitchell, Ross Bailes, and Donald McIntosh rounded out the Top-5.

On Sunday, McDowell headed to Volunteer Speedway (Bulls Gap, Tenn.) for a rescheduled rainout that was declared a non-points race. After qualifying second fastest in time trials, Dale outran polesitter Zack Mitchell in the feature to capture his third win of the season and a $4,053 prize. He finished ahead of Mitchell, Dakotah Knuckles, Benjamin Cranford, and Donald McIntosh.
