Masse Eager for First Race of the Season This Weekend at Castrol Raceway

Inside Line Promotions – MAGRATH, Alberta, Canada (May 8, 2019) – A new car plus momentum from a successful year of racing in 2018 give Cody Masse good reason to anticipate this year’s racing season.

“We’re really looking forward to beginning the season this weekend in Edmonton,” said Masse, who finished second in the championship standings last year as a rookie with the ASCS Frontier Region. “We built a new car this winter and also got a new motor so that should help to make us stronger this year.”

While subject to change, the team’s 2019 racing schedule will see them staying a bit closer to home without concern for points. The season is slated to begin this Friday and Saturday at Castrol Raceway in Edmonton, Alberta, Canada, with the NSA Series.

“We plan to start the season in Edmonton this weekend and then return there later this year for the Gold Cup,” he said. “Otherwise, we’ll probably be racing in Montana most of the time. But we’ll still take it a week at a time.”

After meeting last year’s goals, Masse feels the team is capable of raising the bar this season.

“While we were very pleased with the way our year went last year, we certainly have a lot of room for improvement,” he said. “We’d like to become a team that can compete for wins week in and week out. We’re obviously not quite there yet, but I think we’re ready to take another step closer to doing that this year. Our expectations this year are to run in the top 10 and to be knocking on the door for top fives more consistently.”

Along with better equipment, Masse believes his team’s experience will play a factor in improvement.

“Our equipment will definitely be a big step up this year,” he said. “We’ll also be racing at tracks that we’ve been running for a long time and now have a pretty good notebook built up on them.

“In the past, we were the team that was short on experience. But we’ve been around long enough now where we should have expectations as far as what the tracks will do and what we might run there. Hopefully, that will put us a step ahead of where we usually are.”

Masse realizes the value of his crew and appreciates their dedication and effort to the team.

“I’m really thankful for my crew and for everything they’ve done to get us prepared for this season,” he said. “They’ve shown dedication at the shop building the car and working through the issues you always have when doing that. I’m excited to take our car to the track. I’m proud of what we’ll be rolling out of the trailer and what they’ve done to put us in a situation to be successful.”
