Colton Hardy Scores Fifth Micro Sprint Feature Win at Hank Arnold Memorial

26 Promotions – Casa Grande, AZ – (May 23, 2019) – The last minute decision to run Saturday’s Hank Arnold Memorial hosted at Central Arizona Speedway resulted in Colton Hardy’s fifth micro sprint victory of the year.
Hardy’s night got off to a rough start, starting sixth in his heat Hardy had moved into third when a car pushed in front of him causing them to make contact. Hardy managed to continue and win the heat with the left front radius rod bent and the torsion arm under the axle.
As the night’s high point earner, Hardy lined up on the outside of the third row for the start of the Power 600 Series feature event.
“We methodically worked our way up through the field and got to third around the halfway point,” explained Hardy. “We got to second once or twice only to have to give it due to a yellow, we finally got to second with maybe three or four laps to go. We showed the leader our nose and the next time around he changed his line and got loose in front of me, so when I checked up it allowed third place to get around both of us and I came out running second. We got to the leaders bumper coming to the white and I just went for it in three and four and ended up coming out with the win by a tenth of a second.”
Hardy now has five wins in nine micro starts this season and has found victory lane in four of his last five micro events.
“It feels pretty good to win in a car that I don’t run often but pretty cool to say I’ve won in all three cars in our shop this year. It’s not something we really planned on doing but it ended up working out,” concluded Hardy.
Hardy returns to the Bandit Racing 74 ASCS wing sprint car this Saturday and Sunday for Canyon Speedway Park’s Memorial Salute.
