Hardy Scores Podium Finishes in Micro Sprint Appearance

26 Promotions – Peoria, AZ – (April 19th, 2017) – With the week off from racing the Sprint Car, Colton Hardy jumped into his number 41 Bandit Racing, Hyper Chassis Micro Sprint for the two-day show at Canyon Speedway Park.
Hardy kicked off the weekend Friday night by running away with his Heat race after starting on the pole.
Finishing fourth in passing points lined Hardy up 3rd for the Feature. He’d fall back to 4th before working his up to 2nd by lap 8.
“The car was on point Friday night,” he said. “I was able to diamond the corners, run the bottom and slide myself. The car would just stick and launch off the corner.”
Hardy chased down the leader but was never able to complete the pass for the lead.
“I pretty much pushed the leader around the track for half the race,” he explained. “I did everything I could to get around him without wrecking him.”
Hardy finished the fast paced, green to checker Feature in the runner-up position.
“It’s frustrating knowing we had the car to beat but sometimes that’s the way it is.”
Saturday night saw Hardy charge from 6th to 3rd in Heat race action, lining him up 3rd for the 25-lap Feature. Hardy made the pass for 2nd six laps into the race and quickly chased down the leader. Hardy would fall back to 3rd when he missed his mark trying to get passed a lap car.
“We missed the setup the second night,” he said. “We thought the track was going to go away more but it didn’t. It stayed pretty hooked up right around the bottom all night. I was just to locked down to get a run on anyone once I fell back to 3rd. We were right there with them just couldn’t do much.”
Hardy ended the Saturday night in 3rd to earn his second podium finish of the weekend.
“I can’t thank my dad and Jake Fife enough for getting the motor dialed in for the weekend,” he said.
Hardy is back in his 360 Wing Sprint Car this weekend at Arizona Speedway as the ASCS Southwest Region returns from a two-week break.
