Dale Eliason Jr Scores Top 5 at Tulsa Shootout

26 Promotions – Tulsa, OK – (January 5, 2018) – Dale Eliason Jr closed out 2017 in Tulsa, Oklahoma for the 33rd Annual Lucas Oil Tulsa Shootout inside the River Spirit Expo Center.

Eliason Jr entered three divisions this year, adding the stock non-wing division to go along with the A-Class and Restricted divisions that he ran at last year’s event. After a rough outing in his stock non-wing heat that saw him relegated to an early morning C-Main, Eliason Jr and his dad decided to scratch from that division and focus on A-Class and Restricted as they headed into the weekend.

Eliason Jr and his dad knew the path to a Golden Driller was going to be through the Restricted division and used the A-Class races to allow Eliason Jr to learn the track conditions and figure out where he would need to put the car in the Restricted races.

The Iceman made both qualifiers in the A-Class and Restricted divisions. He went on to win the Restricted qualifier without much of a challenge and locked himself into the eighth starting spot for the feature. Finishing tenth in the A-Class qualifier, Eliason Jr had his work cut out for him as he would need to transfer through both the B-Main and LCQ to make the feature.

Starting mid-pack for his A-Class B-Feature, Eliason Jr did what he could to move forward, but stuck with the plan of learning the track and running up by the cushion to get ready for the 20-lap Restricted feature.

At the start of the Restricted feature, Eliason Jr ran the bottom of the track as right around the berm was the place to be. He waited a few laps before making his move to the top of the track where he’d pick up momentum and drive his way up to third. Eliason Jr continued to work the top of the track following a mid-race caution, when he hit a rough part of the track in turns three and four killing his momentum. The Iceman quickly regained control of the car and battled back and forth for the fourth position in the final eight laps. Eliason Jr crossed the finish line is fifth, ending four days of racing action with a top five finish.

Dale Eliason Jr would like to thank Affordable Powder Coating, Copper State Bolt & Nut, Custom Caretaking Plus INC, DOLCRX, Guhl Motors, HJ Tile, Industrial Machinery Services, PMP Chassis, Seros Racing Engines, and T & K Repair for their support throughout 2017.
